Honda CB750 Hornet 2023-On

On the 2023-On Honda CB750 Hornet the frame covers on each side of the bike cover the swing-arm pivot. This means that with the bike in its standard form it is not possible to fit the abba Superbike stand or abba Sky Lift. We supply a fitting kit for this model which includes the tools required to modify these covers and gain access to the swing-arm pivot point. This is a simple task that only has to be performed once but please read carefully below to understand the procedure before purchasing any abba product for this bike.

What is the issue?

The swing arm pivot (where our products connect to the bike) is not accessible on this bike as Honda cover the pivot point with a plastic cover.

Removing this cover every time you want to use your Superbike Stand or Sky Lift would be very inconvenient as it is partly held in place by the foot rest hanger bolts, meaning the foot rests would need to be removed to release the cover each time.

Of course if you are happy to remove the covers each time you want to use the stand/lift there is no need to carry out our modification (below).

The Solution:

When you purchase the abba Sky Lift, Superbike stand or just the fitting kit for this model you will receive the necessary abba fittings to adapt your stand to fit this bike along with a 35mm Hole Saw.

The Hole Saw will allow you to modify the frame covers with a hole each side for access. This is a very simple procedure, please read the information below for how to do this.

Complete fitting kit shown (right).

Please note, you will require your own electric drill to use the hole saw.

Modifying the standard covers:

Remember this procedure only has to be performed once, it should take around 15-20 minutes to complete.

Firstly you will need to remove the standard covers as per the pictures below:

Once you have removed the covers from each side you can use the 35mm Hole Saw to remove the integral cap from the cover by drilling it from the back. The plastic locating clips (handily) provide support to ensure the hole saw cannot slip sideways. See picture below (left). And finally drilled cover (right).

FAQ's:

  1. I'm a bit nervous taking a drill to parts of my brand new bike!

We understand! Fortunately, the locating tabs on the back of the cover stop the drill from “wandering” ensuring you get a nice clean hole every time. Any plastic burrs can be easily removed with a fine file.

  2. I've noticed on other models you provide a pair of complete replacement pre-drilled covers, why not do that with this kit?

That was a consideration, however the covers for this model (from Honda) retail at over £21.00 per cover, that would have made the whole fitting kit over £60.00. As the cover is quite simple to modify, we feel this is the more logical (and cost-effective) option. If you feel you would still like to have another set of covers that are completely standard (to put back on the bike to sell for example) then you can still purchase these covers yourself. The Honda part numbers are: 50401-MLB-D00 (Right Cover) & 50451-MLB-D00 (Left Cover).

  3. I don't want to drill out my covers/I have my own way of modifying them. Is it possible to just purchase the kit without the hole saw?

Yes of course, just call us (01245 322331) and place your order over the phone. The kit would be our normal fitting kit price of £19.95.
